Srinagar: Authorities on Friday placed Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest at his Nigeen residence ahead of Burhan Wani’s death anniversary.
A police party arrived at theNigeen residence of the Mirwaiz early in the morning and put him under house confinement, said a spokesman.
Taking to social networking site Twitter Mirwaiz wrote: “Restrictions imposed in Downtown Srinagar, #JamaMasjid under siege, a crackdown on #Hurriyat leadership.Yasin arrested,i am placed under #HouseArrest, Geelani Sb counties to be under #HouseDetention.Hurriyat activists houses raided, scores of youth picked up & detained by authorities!”
