J&K State Wushu team emerges as 2nd runners up

Jallandhar, June 26: J&K Senior Wushu team remained overall 3rd in the 5th Federation Wushu cup at Lovely Professional University Jalandhar (Punjab). The 12-member J&K team fetched 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in the Championship. While as Punjab and Haryana registered 1st and 2nd places respectively. Karan Sumbria and Riya Chib secured Gold medals while as Haqeek Ahmed and Abhishek Singh Jamwal secured silver medals and Jabeena Akhter, Appu Jamwal, Mukul secured bronze medals in the said championship. Pertinent to mention here  that Senior Wushu team and Sub-Junior State team remained overall 3rd in the
National Wushu championships for the year 2017-18. Riya Singh Chib and Karan Sumbriya have participated first time in the senior national Wushu championship. Jabeen Akhter (International bronze medalist) hailing from Tangmarg (Baramulla) also secured Bronze medal and later got injured giving a walk-over to the opponent in the semi-final berth. Abhishek Jamwal has earlier won silver medal in Moscow Wushu Stars, and has remained 7 times national medalists. “The overall performance of the team was excellent and hope they will continue the winning spree in the forthcoming National Games and National Championships”, said Ashi Jamwal (Coach).
