Srinagar, 26 Jun 2018.  In a unique initiative to meaningfully engage the talented Kashmiri youth, the Army in collaboration with Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune has organised various courses in Screen Acting, Smartphone Film Making and Screenplay Writing for the youth of Baramulla.

A defense spokesman in a statement said the first in the series of courses will be the Screen Acting Course which will commence from 25 June 2018 wherein 30 youth from Baramulla having a flair for acting will participate.

The Course was inaugurated by the Dagger Division Commander in the presence of Bhupendra Kainthola, Director FTII Pune and various other dignitaries from Civil and District Administration besides Army and Police Officers. Speaking on the occasion, the GOC Dagger Division emphasised on the Army’s continued efforts towards nurturing the cultural heritage and identifying the young talent from the Valley.

He also highlighted that such events provide good employment opportunities to the youth and appreciated the efforts of FTII for their initiative.

Bhupendra Kainthola, Director FTII, said that FTII recently conducted Film and Television Courses in Srinagar and the response from the students was overwhelming.  He also hoped for an even better response from the youth of Baramulla for these courses.
