Srinagar, June 24: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik on Sunday demanded impartial probe by UNHRC or by any equitant international agency into Machil Kupwara encounter, wherein reportedly three youth were slain in fake encounter on June 06.

In a press release issued here JRL expressed deep grief and concern over the killing of three youth including Zahid Rashid (Kantpora Kulgam) in mysterious circumstances and termed it a ‘very sensitive issue’ and a matter of concern for all. The youth were brutally massacred and buried in mysterious circumstances, the press release said adding that the leadership was feeling the pain of separation and the demand for their burials according to religious rituals was a humanitarian demand.

The press release further said that various deputations called on joint resistance leadership and briefed and apprised the trio about the situations. The statement said that during the interaction with JRL the deputation said that authorities were reluctant to return the dead bodies of youth, slain in Machil Kupwara encounter. Denying burial (of slain youth) as per religious rites is insensitive and callous.”, they added.

Terming it to be a matter of grave concern, the press release further added that that ‘brutal Indian forces detain and later kill our youth in far-off places and bury them in unknown graves’.

The joint leadership in their statement appealed international community to initiate an impartial probe and ascertain the identity of those buried in unmarked graves adding that force, intimidations, detentions and killing won’t force ‘us’ to submission and stressed the need for resolving ‘Kashmir issue’ in its ‘historical perspective’ and as per aspirations of people.
