SRINAGAR, JUNE 22: A three-day orientation programme organized by the Department of Tourism Kashmir for its officials aimed at skill enhancement and personality development concluded here today.

The officials from other departments including SKICC, RSGC, and JKTDC also participated in the orientation programme where professional trainers of national repute imparted training.

The main emphasis was laid on the communications skills, body language, values and etiquettes of the staff mostly posted at Tourist Reception Centres who receive tourists and handle their enquiries.

The participants were taught how to receive calls on helpline numbers from tourists and visitors, maintain a proper log of the enquiries and do a follow up those enquires so that tourists receive every sort of assistance in a cordial manner.

The training focused on each participant in role plays to give them the feel of the best practices in the tourism sector.

Seeing the success of the programme, the department decided to conduct more such programme aimed at skill enhancement and personality development.

Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah said that the orientation programme was conducted so that the officials give better and improve quality of works.

“The orientation programmes are necessary so that the officials learn and develop a pleasing personality so that they have better dealings with the visitors and give them better experience at TRC. The programme was also aimed at training them to develop good relations with visitors and other organizations associated with the department,” Director Tourism said.

He said they would continue such programmes aimed at developing the confidence of the staff and bring efficiency to the works of the department.
