Jammu, Jun 21: The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today registered a case of corruption against two government officials in Doda district, officials said.

Booked under the prevention of corruption act, the case was registered against head clerk Imtiyaz Ahmad and a class-IV employee Riyaz Ahmad, posted in Mechanical Division Khellani, a spokesman of the anti-graft body said.

The SVO conducted the verification after a special anti-corruption court in Doda forwarded a complaint lodged by Abdul Karim, alleging that the accused employees took a bribe of Rs 60,000 from him at the time of his appointment and were taking Rs 2150 every month from his salary.

“The complainant was engaged as casual labourer on November 1, 2014 by then Executive Engineer of Mechanical Division Khellani on the recommendation of the then Roads and Buildings minister.”

“Imtiyaz and Riyaz on account of getting Karim regularised demanded and accepted Rs 40,000 and 20,000 respectively,” he said.

The spokesman said the accused were likely to be arrested soon for questioning.
