Mega legal services-cum-awareness camp organized at Harwan

SRINAGAR, JUNE 20: Judges of Supreme Court, Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice NV Ramana, jointly inaugurated a day-long mega legal services-cum-awareness camp at Juvenile Home Harwan here today.

Chief Justice J&K High Court Justice Alok Aradhe, Judges of the J&K High Court, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Maharaj Kishan Hanjura, Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar & Chairman DLSA, Mohammad Akram Chaudhary, Judicial Officers, DC Srinagar Syed Abid Rasheed, lawyers, prominent citizens and other district line officers were also present there.

Justice Gogoi, who is also the Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and Justice Ramana attended the programme organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar in collaboration with the district administration to make general masses aware of their entitlements under the law and apprise them about the availability of Free Legal services, besides to connect them to several welfare schemes.

It was said that assistance is provided to the needful populace by the district line departments identified by the Paralegal volunteers of the district by way of providing motorized tricycles, customized wheelchairs, hearing aid equips, financial assistance, health camps, agricultural and horticulture tools, labour cards under state and centrally-sponsored schemes.

On the occasion, NLSA theme song with audiovisual clips was displayed about the developments of legal services while documentary by the state legal services authority was also displayed.

Later, Justice Gogoi and Justice Ramana inspected the informative stalls set up by district line departments and enquired about the criteria and facilities being provided to the beneficiaries.
