BJP summons all ministers, party heads to Delhi

Jammu: Giving rise to speculations that the Government of India (GoI) may declare Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP today summoned all its ministers and party top functionaries to Delhi.

Sources close to BJP said that party’s national president, Amit Shah today summoned all the ministers and party top brass to Delhi for an ‘emergency and crucial meeting.’

Sources further said that Kavinder Gupta and Sat Sharma (both senior ministers) and party’s newly elected President, Ravinder Raina rushed to Delhi in the last flight from Jammu to Delhi.

Sources further said that rest of the ministers (who were available in Jammu) and four General Secretaries rushed to Delhi by train late Monday evening.

The development comes a day after New Delhi decided to call off the ceasefire. Sources said that the coalition partner, PDP, has not been happy about the decision.

Some sources said that BJP is too upset about the worsening of the security situation in the Valley particularly following the murder of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari.

BJP, that thrives on Hindu support in the entire nation and in Jammu region too, sources said, is apprehensive about the Amarnath Yatra and thus doesn’t want to take any chance.

“The security situation prevalent indicates that the state government has lost the grip over the day-to-day happenings here. The security of Amarnath Yatris seems under severe threat. And therefore BJP is too worried and thus wants to take an honest feedback from its men in J&K to devise future strategy,” sources said.

It may be mentioned here that most of the BJP men in state government were against the announcement of ceasefire in the first place.

However, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced it with a consent from PMO.

Sources said that most of the BJP cadre believes that instead of helping the state, the ceasefire has helped militants to expand and consolidate thus negating the basic concept of the ceasefire.
