ANANTNAG, JUNE 10: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Rehman Veeri today visited Mattan Sun Temple to take stock of the arrangements put in place for the celebrations of Banmass – Malmass festival. The Minister also interacted with the people visiting the shrine and enquired about the facilities being provided to them.

DC Anantnag Mohd Younus Mallik, Executive Engineers PDD & PHE, Tehsildar Mattan, AD Tourism, BMO Mattan, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Mattan and other concerned officers accompanied the Minister during his visit.

Later, the Minister chaired a meeting with the concerned officers and instructed them to provide all the facilities to the devotees. He was apprised that adequate facilities of proper sanitation, power, water, healthcare, ration and other facilities have been made available to the devotees for the celebrations of the festival.

Pertinently the said festival is celebrated after every 2 and half years for a period of one month and shall conclude on 13th of June 2018.  This year, more than one lakh devotees from across the country attended the festival, said a devotee.

The devotees thanked the district administration for providing all the necessary facilities and support for the celebrations of the festival.
