Srinagar, June 08: Continuing with its efforts to weed out the menace of drug addiction form Society, Khanyar Police today arrested a drug peddler for the city and seized 1 KG of Charas from his possession.
Police in a statement said that today naka was established by police party near Konkhan Dalgate.
During naka checking one person was found moving around suspiciously and when he was questioned about his movements, he tried to escape but was restrained and his identification was sought. The said individual was identified as Sheeraz Ahmad Dar s/o Ab Rashid Dar R/o Ladermud Naina District Pulwama, said the police.
The said person was searched and upon his checking one Kg Charas was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested on spot and contraband seized.
In this regard, case FIR No. 44/2018 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Khanyar and investigation initiated.
