Shia Muslims observe martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali in Kashmir

Budgam, June 06: Pledging to follow the teachings of first Shia Imam, mourners across the Valley commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali (AS) on Wednesday.

Religious ceremonies were observed in Budgam, Zadibal, Hassanabad, Magam and other areas.

The largest gathering took place at Imam Bargah Budgam where thousands of mourners assembled and remembered Imam Ali (AS).

While paying rich tributes to slain Imam, President Anjuman Sharie, Aga Syed Hassan addressed mourners at Budgam.

He said that it was incumbent upon Muslims to take lessons from the life and martyrdom of Imam Ali (AS).

The martyrdom day of Imam Ali (AS) coincides with the Night of Decree, also known as Shab-e-Qadr (Ramazan 21). People recited Quran and Kashmiri Marsiya throughout the day.

Imam Ali (AS) was martyred by Ibn Muljam after attacking with poisoned sword at the Grand Mosque in Kufa city of Iraq.
