Director Agri directs for constituting committees to monitor progress of CSSs

SRINAGAR, JUNE 05: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, today reviewed the status of implementation of different Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) being implemented by the department and the present water scenario of the valley, at a meeting held here at Lalmandi.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture impressed upon the officers to play a pro-active role in the execution of different schemes and programmes. He directed to establish monitoring and vigilance committees of different allied wings of the department at the village level to monitor and verify the proceedings and progress on the ground level so that accountability and transparency is maintained in the implementation of different schemes.

He reiterated the officers for maintaining documentation besides pre and post-photographic evidence of each activity conducted by the department.

While discussing the present agri-climatic scenario, Andrabi said amid challenging weather conditions, the department is closely monitoring the water scenario in Valley. He said awareness mechanism “with respect to various innovative water use practices and techniques should be strengthened among the farmers in order to maximise the use of every drop of water available for irrigation purposes.”

Earlier, concerned Chief Agriculture Officers gave a detailed description of the status of different Kharief crops, present water scenario and measures brought-in by the department to address the issues confronting farmers.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Inputs, Project Coordinator Mushroom, Deputy Director Law Enforcement, Deputy Director Agriculture Central, Plant Protection Officer Kashmir, all Chief Agriculture Officers and other senior officers of the department.
