Burglar held in Sopore, another absconding

Srinagar, June 04: One burglar was arrested by Sopore police while as his accomplice is still absconding.

Police in a statement said that on 19th of May 2018, Police Post Putkha received a written complaint from Auqaf Committee Hygam regarding burglary of Local Masjid Shareef of Hygam. A case case FIR No. 39/2018 U/S 457, 380 RPC was registered and investigation was started.

During the course of investigation, Sopore police zeroed on one suspect namely Altaf Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Krankshivan Sopore, who during questioning confessed the commission of crime. During his confession, it was also learnt that another person namely Nazir Ahmad Dar son of Sonaullah Dar resident of Haritar Sopore (Still Absconding) is also involved in the crime.

On his disclosure, stolen property worth lacs of rupees was recovered. More arrests and recoveries are also expected.
