Srinagar, June 2 : A special police officer (SPO) who was injured critically after fired upon by militants at Puchal area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district last week, succumbed to injuries on Saturday evening.

SPO, Aqib Wagay son of Abdul Ahad Wagay was attacked by militants at Puchal village on last Tuesday evening (May 29). He was shot at in both legs by the militants.

In the incident, Wagay, a resident of Panzagam Awantipora, suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to 92 base hospital Badamibagh Srinagar where from he was later referred to SKIMS Soura.

After battling for life for four days, SPO succumbed in SKIMS Soura this evening.

SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudary also confirmed the death of SPO.

Pertinently, a video showing militants interrogating the special police officer (SPO), who was shot at by them in Pulwama district, had gone viral on social media.

The video was shot before he was fired upon. The video shows that he was being questioned by militants for allegedly being involved in supply of liquor to villages from Army camp.
