Srinagar, June 1: A soldier was killed and an army Major was injured after they slipped off a mountain and fell down into a deep gorge in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.

Official sources told News Agency GNS that duo which was part of the patrolling party suffered critical injuries after they slipped and fell down into the deep gorge from the mountain at Maidan Uri.

The injured, identified as Major Amit Kumar and Sepoy Raman Kumar of 62 RR, were taken to nearby Military hospital immediately where Sepoy succumbed to injuries.

The incident occurred, sources said when Army’s 62 RR had launched a search operation today in the afternoon following suspicious movement in Maidan Uri.

A police officer also confirmed the death of soldier and injuries to army Major.
