US Embassy delegation calls on Speaker Legislative Assembly

SRINAGAR, MAY 30: A four-member delegation of the United States Embassy, New Delhi headed by Mark Tesone called on the Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Dr. Nirmal Singh, here today.

Threadbare discussions were held on various issues pertaining to cultural, political and socio-economic and other developmental scenario of the state.

The Speaker briefed the delegation about the functioning of the different sections of the Legislative Assembly including working of different financial and other Committees of Assembly Secretariat.

Dr Singh also briefed about the various aspects of the proceedings and legislative business of the House.

The Speaker also gave a detail about the cultural and socio-economic profile of three regions of the state besides topographical position and other needs of the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions.

He also briefed them about the steps taken by the government besides sincere efforts taken for maintaining peace, communal harmony and mutual brotherhood of the three regions of the state.

The other issues which came under discussion include construction of Zojila tunnel, work on power projects, education scenario, and road connectivity in the state.
