Peace talks to emerge as win win deal for Kashmiris: PDP

Dialogue inevitable, leadership must not debilitate the process: Mansoor

Srinagar, May 29:  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday termed the present political situation extremely positive for ending an era of uncertainty and chaos and make peace and tranquillity inseparable features of Jammu and Kashmir.

PDP General Secretary Mansoor Hussain Sohrawardhy said the people of Jammu and Kashmir were yearning for peace for long and the present situation could emerge as a win win deal for the common masses who have been bearing the brunt of hostilities and witnessing bloodshed and mayhem for decades.

He said that leadership of the state has a chance to prove its loyalty towards the people of Kashmir and translate the ideas of dialogue and reconciliation into a living reality.  Mansoor said that amid the vicious cycle of violence claiming precious lives, need for dialogue has become inevitable. “Government of India’s offer of talks must be reciprocated with the positive approach by the leadership of the state as it is the common man who suffering in the present period of uncertainty.  It is high time that those at the helm must check the power tussles, ego clashes, and internecine conflicts, which have repeatedly debilitated the dialogue and reconciliation process,” Mansoor said.

Meanwhile, several peoples’ delegations hailing from various areas appraised the PDP General Secretary Mansoor Hussain Sohrawardy about various day to day issues and sought their redressal at the party head office here.

Amongst the delegations was the Traders Association of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar which sought the party General Secretary’s intervention so that the congregational prayers could be held at the revered mosque sans any hindrance by the people.  Casual labourers and daily wagers of various corporations also met Hussain and asked for the induction of their services into the already notified SRO 520 of Jammu and Kashmir government.

A delegation comprising of artisans hailing from various parts of Srinagar’s old city apprised the PDP General Secretary about the hardships being faced by them while replaying their loans amid the uncertainty faced by them in their incomes.  The delegation asked Hussain to take holistic view on their issues and banks should waive-off their loans.

Among others was the deputation from Krishbal and Palpora Eidgah who apprised the PDP General Secretary about the day today issues being faced by these areas.

Mansoor assured all necessary action and assistance in the redressal of the grievances, stating that adequate measures shall be put in place to make sure that the issues are resolved without any further delay.
