Army pays tribute to soldier killed in Kakapora militant attack

Srinagar, May 29: Army today paid tribute to Sepoy Vikram Singh killed in a militant attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 27.

In a solemn ceremony at Badamibagh cantonment here, Corps Commander Lt Gen A K Bhatt and all ranks paid homage to the soldier on behalf of a proud nation, a defence spokesman said.

Sep Vikram Singh had sustained a bullet injury during an attack by militants on Kakapora Army camp on Sunday night.

“He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries,” said the spokesman.

“He belonged to Village Ladpur of Chhata Tehsil in Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife,” he said.

“The mortal remains of the slainr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours,” the spokesman said, adding the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
