Shopian, 26 May: Though frequent power cuts are nothing new for the residents of Shopian district, the unscheduled during Iftaar And Sahoor time is making their lives more difficult.
Locals alleged that on most of the days, the most of the area don’t get electric supply at at Sahoor and Iftar time.
“How can the authorities be so negligent towards the fact that power outages make it difficult for us to have meals at Sahoor,” said a local, Rameez.
When contacted Assistant Engineer Power development Department Sub-Division Chitragam, Syed Talib said, “The power grid is facing severe overloading as the demand of electricity increases during the month of Ramadan.”
“We lack the mechanism of upgrading electric supply in the power grid,” he added.
