SSA teachers’ stage protest over non-payment of salaries

Tangmarg May 24: Dozens of SSA teachers on Thursday staged a protest demonstration in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district against the government for not releasing their salaries from past four months.

The protesting teachers alleged that the government has diverted the funds which were meant for their salaries.

They said that the ninety percent of SSA teachers’ salaries is released by MHRD, whereas the rest ten percent comes from the funds of state government and it is the lack of communication between state and central government which has led to delay in their salaries.

Naseer Ahmad SSA teacher said, “We have been demanding the streamline of our salaries from a very long-time but the authorities have been indifferent towards the issue which compelled the teachers to hit the streets.”

The protesting teachers demanded immediate release of their salaries and threatened to block the Srinagar-Gulmarg road in case their demands are met.

Meanwhile, scores of teachers held a protest demonstration at main chowk Kunzer of Baramulla district, the protesting teachers were demanding immediate release and delinking of their salaries.

The protesting teachers were holding placards which had the slogans of delinking and immediate release of their salaries written on it.
