BJP leader’s guard flees with rifle

SOPORE: A Special Police Officer (SPO) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has decamped with the service rifle of his associate in Rafiabad area of North Kashmir.

According to reports, Waseem Ahmad a resident of Shutloo village of Rafiabad, who was guarding the residential house of Mohammad Maqbool War, a former member of Bharati Janta Party (BJP), fled away with the service rifle of Constable Shamshad Ahmad.

Reports further said besides the service rifle, Malla has also taken away some ammunition.

Senior Superintend of Police Sopore Javaid Iqbal confirmed that the SPO has gone missing along with the service rifle. “A police team has been sent to the spot to verify the details.”

Meanwhile Police issued a press release on Wednesday wherein it stated that the SPO has stolen a weapon from the personal trunk of his associate.

Meanwhile, police in a statement said that Waseem Ahmed, an SPO, resident of Shatloo “has stolen a weapon from the PSO of a protected person in Sopore from the personal trunk of the PSO. The said SPO was posted at the M M WAR guard and was there without a weapon. Police has started investigation into the matter after registration of a case”.
