Srinagar: Former union minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz today met with Congress President Rahul Gandhi and discussed various issues with him.

In a statement issued here, Soz said that he found Rahul Gandhi focused on various issues concerning the people of India and is keen to put in a sizable effort to protect the idea of India as a vibrant democracy, secular, pluralistic society.

“He felt concerned that what was happening today was because of that the ruling party was not prepared to make room for different points of view on issues,” said Soz.

Soz further said that he apprised Rahul Gandhi of the situation obtaining in Jammu and Kashmir State who in return felt that the way-forward could be found through discussion and dialogue with the people of the State.

“On my part, I told him that his dignified unilateralism could promote purposeful unity among the national opposition parties.

“On Jammu and Kashmir State, I suggested to him that he should continue the process of discussion with the people of the State,” said Soz.
