Health Department organizes workshop on IDCF in Baramulla

BARAMULLA, MAY 22: Health Department Baramulla today organized a day-long district level sensitization workshop on Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at Nursing School DH Baramulla here. District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, was the chief guest on the occasion.

IDCF is a special fortnight campaign during which necessary information with regard to diarrhea is disseminated through workshops, seminars and other related activities. It is aimed at the adoption of necessary measures to control and eradicate the disease.

Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, officers from various departments including PHE, Rural Development, Municipality and Education besides doctors and paramedical staff of District Hospital Baramulla attended the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said the PHE department has a very important role and called on it to be proactive in ensuring only safe and hygienic drinking water is supplied to the people.

Lauding the Health department for organizing this programme, the DDC said such workshops are important for awareness and should be conducted at the block level too. He hailed the role of Asha and Anganwari workers and called on them to remain active and sensitize the common population, especially mothers, about the importance of cleanliness and its benefits.

Naqash instructed the Education department to organize such programmes in various educational institutions to spread awareness among the students about the basic causes of diarrhea.
