Srinagar, May 18: Vice Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Wakf Board, Nizamuddin Bhat has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on 19th has preceded a healthy development in the decision of ceasefire which is creating a new hope for peace, reconciliation and conflict resolution.

In a statement issued here he said, “It is largely believed that the initiative emanated from centre’s renewed resolve for positive engagement of stakeholders in peace and the intent to fulfill promises made to the people of the state.”

Bhat said PDP-BJP relationship is based on agenda of alliance which is a documented assurance to masses for meeting their demands and aspirations and there can be no excuse to evade a commitment or delay to cause crisis of confidence.

Bhat said ceasefire decision makes a fresh start towards owing the people for larger interest of stability and public good.

He said unfortunately there is cynicism prevailing in the backdrop of flip-flop on conflict resolution over the decades. “This perception needs to be done away with sooner than later. If this happens the present dispensation in New Delhi will make history by restoring people’s trust in the system and its potential to accommodate dissent views and also the capacity to resolve pending political and economic issues.”

Bhat said since Prime Minister is visiting Kashmir at a positive note, he can make it possible that ceasefire move is shown as an honest and sincere effort to respect sentiments and aspirations of the people. “Prime Minister can also respect his own promises by reassuring the accomplishment of agenda of alliance, in this context he has an opportunity to fulfill a commitment.

Bhat said during his visit he has to inaugurate various Hydel Power Projects in the state, which could be dedicated to state as part of fulfillment of promises on return of State’s Hydel Projects by NHPC.

Bhat said this is high time that centre allows the state to avail all the benefits accruing to them out of their own water resources. “Handing over Power Projects to state control will be an apt thing to do at an opportune time,” Bhat said, adding this gesture will not only make ceasefire move meaningful but will also raise the Prime Ministers stock in the eyes of the suffering people as a decisive and caring leader.

He also made a demand that those who have been engaged in local hydel projects should not be disengaged in the event of these projects getting commissioned.
