DDC Shopian chairs DLRC meeting

SHOPIAN, MAY 16: District Development Commissioner Shopian, Gazanfar Ali, Wednesday chaired the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting to review the progress made by banks and line departments in the district.

The meeting discussed the progress and achievements made by banks regarding the implementation of various government-sponsored schemes in the district. Discussions were also held on loans provided under the direct lending mode.

The agenda of the meeting also included sponsoring of BPL unemployed candidates for training by line departments and credit linkage of trained candidates by banks and reimbursement of training expenses of NRLM candidates.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC called for greater coordination between banks, various line departments and RSETI. He also stressed on enhancement in overall credit flow of banks crucial for raising the standard of living in the district.

The DDC also called for focused attention on dairying and sheep husbandry sector for creation of income-generating units in far-flung areas. He instructed the officials to spread awareness about schemes including Prime Minister Jan DhanYojna, loans for SCs/STs, women, mapping of schools with banks among others.

He also instructed all bank authorities to ensure awareness with regard to financial literacy camps particularly in the rural and semi-urban belts of the district in order to educate the masses about various banking products and government-sponsored schemes.

The DDC and LDO RBI enjoined upon the banks to improve their CD ratio. The line departments were asked to be pro-active in sponsor self-employment local cases so that beneficiaries get the required assistance.

Later, the DDC launched the Area Development Scheme for Dairy Development and Sheep Rearing 2018-2013 under NABARD.

The meeting was attended by officials of RBI, LDM, NRLM, DIC, EDI, DUDA, Fisheries, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry departments besides banks managers and representatives of other sponsoring agencies operating in the district.
