They claimed that absence of this important bridge is compelling the commuters to take alternative routes which make their journey long and cumbersome.

A resident of the village Zainpora, Tawseef Ahmad said, “The alternative road that passes through the Sub District Hospital of Zainapora witnesses frequent traffic jams as the road becomes overcrowded with the diverted vehicles.”

“The shopkeepers, who have their shops located on Shopian-Bijbehara road, are running in loss, besides facing immense difficulties in transporting the merchandise to their shops,” he added.

Interestingly, the under-construction bridge falls in the hometown of MLA Wachi, Aijaz Mir.

When contacted MLA Wachi said, “the bridge will be thrown-open in June-July this year.”

“The work on the bridge could not be completed on time because of volatile situation in district Shopian,” said the MLA.
