Shopian: Life returned to normal in Shopian on Saturday after six successive days of spontaneous shutdown against the civilian and militant killings. However, Pulwama continued to remain shut for the seventh day in a row.
Reports said that shops and other business establishments opened in Shopian town and elsewhere. Public transport also plied.
However, shutdown continued in Pulwama district where a gunfight broke out earlier today in Chinar Bagh Takay Mohalla in Barpora village.
A CRPF trooper was killed in the gunfight while militants, believed to be three in number, managed to escape.
Shopian has observed 51 days of shutdowns out of total 122 days during this year so far resulting in massive damages to business and education of the children.
