G’bal hosts awareness programme under BBBP

GANDERBAL, MAY 06:- An awareness programme under the centrally sponsored scheme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was organized at Town Hall Ganderbal today.

The programme organized by Society for Rehabilitation of Destitute girls and Victims of Violence (SRDGVV) was aimed to make people aware about the importance of girl child in the society, besides bringing about an attitudinal change among the people towards girl child.

District Development Commissioner Ganderbal Dr. Piyush Singla was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while as SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmad Lone was the Guest of Honour. Besides, Deputy CEO Ganderbal, DPO Ganderbal, Chairman SRDGVV, Rahim Rezwan Reshi were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC Ganderbal said for empowering women it is important that awareness, appreciation and support comes from quarters of society especially youth.

He added that, this cause needs intervention of people at individual as well as at community level.

Highlighting the accomplishments of the SRDGVV, Chairman SRDGVV Rahim Rizwan Reshi apprised the Chief Guest that during the current year 44 girls from far flung areas were awarded with certificates for completion of vocational trainings courses conducted at Anderwan and Waliwar areas of District Ganderbal.

Addressing the gathering, SSP Ganderbal also highlighted the importance of showing consciousness towards saving the girl child and to come forward dutifully as good citizens to obliterate all the ills of society which deprive the girl child from their rights.
