Director Agriculture takes stock of ongoing Farmers Welfare Schemes at Ramban

JAMMU-MAY 04, 2018:  Director Agriculture Jammu, Hari Krishan Razdan visited district Ramban to take stock of ongoing farmer’s welfare schemes and programmes, here today.

The Director was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer, K. K. Gupta, ASCO Ilyas Gattu, SDAOs,  S. Madan Gopal Singh and S. Sukhbir Singh, Subject Matter Specialist, Ashwani Kumar and VAEAs of the area.

During the visit, the Director assessed the general condition of current Rabi crops and vegetable and interacted with the field functionaries for preparations of the ensuing kharif season including centre-wise requirements of various inputs and opening of sale outlets.

While inspecting the  Vegetable Improvement Farm located at Thathar, Banihal which is the only farm of the Temperate Zone of Jammu Division, he directed the farm staff to make all out efforts to optimize and improve the open Pollinated variety seeds of vegetables as per seed certification norms.

In a review meeting, he directed the field staff to adopt the scientific temperament and to strive hard to complete all the targets fixed under Soil Health Card Scheme (SCHS), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) to achieve the higher sustainable level of agriculture production and yield per unit area.

The Director also appreciated the efforts of the concerned towards successful conduct of Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas in all the blocks of the district under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. He further asked the field functionaries to ensure outreach of seven point strategy to be adopted for doubling the farmer’s income to the remotest corner of the district.

The Director also stressed on following the guidelines and norms and also taking the local representatives into confidence while implementing various farmers’ welfare schemes.
