Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested two personal security guards (PSOs) of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on the charges of allegedly thrashing a civilian and resorting to aerial firing in Banihal last night.

Sources said that the incident happened last night when two PSOs of BJP MLC Sofi Yusuf thrashed a civilian for not giving passage to the vehicle of the MLC on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Banihal.

The civilian has has been identified as Amir Saleem.

Sources said that locals rushed to the spot and it was then that one of the PSO fired a shot in the air. Both were, however, handed over to police.

A case has been registered on a written complaint under FIR number 61/2018 u/s 307 341 323 RPC and 7/27 Arms act at police station Banihal.
