Omar chides Modi after he throws challenge to Rahul

Srinagar: Reacting over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s challenge thrown to Congress President Rahul Gandhi to speak for 15 minutes without using notes, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday chided him saying “perhaps we can ask the Hon PM to speak for 2 min about why the rape & murder of an 8 year old girl is a ‘minor issue’”.

Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, Omar wrote: “I hope @RahulGandhi takes up the Hon PM’s challenge & speaks w/out using notes for 15 min about the Karnataka Govt & then perhaps we can ask the Hon PM to speak for 2 min about why the rape & murder of an 8 year old girl is “a minor issue”.

The comment made by newly appointed Jammu and Kashmir deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta sparked row after he termed Kathua minor rape and murder as “minor incident”.

Gupta who took oath on Monday after BJP went for rejig to boost party’s image following participation of two state cabinet ministers -Chandra Parkash Ganga and Chowdhary Lal Singh in a rally organized by Hindu Ekta Munch in favour of accused in the Kathua minor rape and murder.
