8th Urs of Ahad Ba’b observed with fervor

SOPORE: 8th  annual Urs of famous Sufi saint Ahad Ba’b was today observed at Noor Bagh area of Sopore.

Thousands of devotes who came from different places of the valley and also other parts of the country, attended the annual Urs which is celebrated every year on 13th  of Shaban.

Ahad Ba’b, was born on 30th June in 1930 at Ashpeer in Sopore. He died at the age of 80 on July 26, 2010, after a brief illness.

His son, Mushtaq Ahmad told ‘Kashmir Images’ that it was after the hanging of Zulfkar Ali Bhutto that my father (Ahad Ba’b) stopped to wear clothes and lived naked for rest of his life. “No one knows the actual reason as why my father gave up clothes,” said Mushtaq.

A devotee of Ahad Ba’b, Idrees Ahmad, said that he had a great faith in him and would always remain attached with the saint. “His death was a great loss for his followers and especially to Kashmir valley,” said Idrees a resident of Banihal.

“I have been a witness to many miracles of Ahad Ba’b, where so many patients got rid of ‘deadly diseases’, he added.

The grandfather of Ahad Ba’b, Peer Hadayatullah, and his father, Peer Mohammad Ahsan were also revered as Sufi Saints and Ahad Ba’b followed their legacy to become one of the widely known Sufi Saint of Kashmir.
