Symposium marks end of 29th RSW at Poonch

POONCH APRIL 30: A Symposium cum valedictory function was held today here at auditorium of Government Degree College (GDC) to mark the end of 29th Road Safety Week (RSW) Campaign here in this border district.

The function was organised by Motor Vehicle Department in collaboration with college administration.

Assistant Commissioner Development Basharat Hussain was the chief guest at the function attended by ARTO Abdul Raheem, Principal Degree College Poonch Musharraf Hussain Shah, Principal GHSS Sheesh Mahal, faculty members of GDC Poonch, representatives from Civil Society, Media Persons, transporters and students.

Students of different schools participated in the symposium and spoke about the theme of Road Safety Week.

The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of Motor Vehicles Department for organising a meticulously planned awareness campaign in the district. He also thanked other stakeholders for their active participation to make the campaign a success.

The ARTO reiterated department’s commitment to aware the public about road safety and to provide hassle free services to the public. He also expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their participation in various events organised under road safety week.

Principals of GDC Poonch and GHSS Sheesh Mahal and professors of GDC College also spoke on road safety and role of a responsible society in spreading the awareness to save precious lives lost in road accidents.

Later, the MVD felicitated the stakeholders who remained at the forefront in week long campaign.
