Srinagar, Apr 28: Peoples’ Democratic Party on Saturday termed the Government decision of providing the 7th pay commission benefits to the SRO-202 appointees as significant, stating that the pro-people decisions being rolled out at present have given new hope to the people to witness remarkable  and transparent governance ahead.

In a statement issued here, PDP’s Srinagar district President and Upper House Member Mohammad Khurshid Alam said the confrontational attitude with the employees had become a norm in Jammu and Kashmir’s administrative set-up, however, at present the trend is being reversed by virtue of humane, objective and compassionate measures.

The PDP leader also underscored the vital and progressive decisions being taken by the present government including the implementation of the 7th pay commission to more than five lakh government employees, asserting that the state government is the first in entire India that has achieved such a remarkable milestone.  Alam said that such scenes of pro-people governance were alien to the state which was reeling under the chaotic, anarchic and nepotistic rule since decades.

He said that the government decision to move the appointees under SRO-202 to a new framework as also to extend the benefits of pay revision under 7th pay commission to all such employees right from January 1, 2016 is an indication of how the present regime is rigorously pursuing its agenda of addressing the woes and concerns of each and every section of the society. “On all fronts, this government has scanned new horizons and it has prioritized its efforts when it comes to giving voice to the unrepresented class, protecting and safeguarding the most vulnerable sections of the society or in providing the new avenues of dignified and honourable means of livelihood to the youth of the state,” Alam said.

He maintained that contrary to the decisions of the past regimes during which the youth used to be pushed to the wall and underling the sufferings of non-affluent had become a norm, the present government is in a forefront undoing the blunders committed by the past rulers and giving the people of the state plethora of reasons to hope for a prosperous and incorruptible tomorrow.

Appreciating the finance minister for fulfilling the commitments made to the employees, Alam said that despite the financial constrains, the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti remained in a forefront to accord benefits of the 7th pay commission to the SRO-202 appointees. He said that it is the outcome of the earnest efforts of the chief minister that a Lecturer, appointed under SRO-202 who was getting Rs 20100 will now get Rs 52000 monthly salary, while Junior Engineer, getting Rs 13500 will be entitled to Rs 35400 and a teacher getting Rs 8300 to Rs 11170 will get Rs 29200 per month.
