KULGAM, APRIL 26: A plan allocation of Rs 132 Crore for district Kulgam has been approved for the financial year 2018-19 at the District Development Board (DDB) meeting held under the chairmanship of Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq here today.

The meeting was attended by MP Nazir Ahmad Laway, legislators Abdul Majeed Padder, M.Y Tarigami, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Mohammad Amin Bhat, DDC Kulgam Sajad Hussain Vice Chairman KVIB, Vice Chairman Gujjar and Bakerwal Board, Heads of concerned departments, Chief Engineers and all District officers besides other concerned officers.

During the meeting, the Chairman exhorted upon the officers to take the development on mission mode basis so that its fruition is cherished by the general public.

He also reiterated the commitment of the government to make the constituencies as nodal points of development and plan execution. In this regard, he showed his full faith in the contribution & suggestions put forth by MLA’s in the public interest. He also directed the district administration to put on board the public representatives for plan execution.

Minister directed the DDC to submit a final report regarding the substandard material used in the construction of Primary Health Centres of Devsar and Nihama. The chair directed the RDD department to shift all the technical staff & other officials who have completed two years tenure at a place to bring transparency and accountability in the system.

In this vein, he called upon the public representatives to serve as the prime movers of development by properly monitoring the developmental activities in the district.

He also directed the district administration to make frequent field visits to all areas of the district to fulfil actual public demands.

Earlier District Development Commissioner, Sajad Hussain Ganie appraised the Minister about the progress made under various developmental activities undergoing in the district and the implementation of previous Board decisions through a power point presentation.

On the occasion, it was given out that against the revised approved allocation of Rs 134.60 crores, Rs102.05 crore was made available and out of which an expenditure of Rs.98.65 crores have been spent on various developmental and welfare activities.

Taking a stock of the R&B Department, it was informed that during the current financial year six major bridges have been completed including the much awaited Shamsi Pora Wanpora bridge, Malvan Khaloora, Chinigm, Hanger, Dessan, Noonmai, Baili bridge Dudkuchan at an estimated cost of 17.50 crores besides a road length of 150 kilometres has been macadamized in district.

The meeting was informed that work on 15 major projects approved and under execution currently includes Ashmuji Kilam Gund bridge, Brazloo NH444, Challan Ashthal, Adigan Damhal, Manigam Chaderkoot and other major bridges is going on full pace at an estimated 93.47 Crore. It was also informed that projects targeted to be completed during current fiscal is in full swing which includes Polytechnic College Lecture block, SDH Qaimoh, Model Eklawiya School, AD Ahmadabad, IPD block DH Kulgam, Finance Complex.

To fulfill the urgent public demand, it was agreed in principle by all the four MLAs to approve recommendations for the establishment of a Women Degree college and Dialysis facilities centre in District hospital Kulgam.
