Four poetic collections released at Mehfil-e-Mushaira function in Budgam

BUDGAM, APRIL 25: Four poetic collections written by former legislator Abdul Gani Naseem and prominent poetess Rehana Kounsar were released today at a Mehfil-e-Mushaira function held at Sheikh-Ul-Alam Hall in Budgam.

The function held under the banner ‘Khilat Gulistan Taqreeb Mehfil-e-Musharia’ was organized by Gulistan News Channel to honor the poets and writers for their contribution towards different regional languages including Urdu and Punjabi.

MLC Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, who was chief guest on the occasion, lauded the role of poets, poetesses and writers for their contribution towards the promotion of literature.

He said that their contribution not only enriches the Kashmiri culture, but also portrays the picture of Kashmir’s tradition and customs.

The books released on the occasion were, ‘Mouj’, ‘Sanam’ and ‘Sang e Aastan’ the three-poetry collection by former MLA and writer Abdul Gani Naseem. While as ‘Fulie Wann’ a poetry collection by eminent poetess Rehana Kounsar was also released on the occasion.

Among others, VC Handloom Cooperation Mahuiddin Muntazir, ACD Budgam Fayaz Ahmad Parra, Dr Satish Vimal, Dr Zeeshan Fazil, Dr Mehfooza Jan, Dr Ghulam Hassan Yatoo and prominent journalist Ishfaq Gowhar were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, around 17 poets and writers were honored with trophies for their contribution towards different languages.

The poets and writers honored on the occasion, include Dr Shad Ramzan, Subha Showkeen, Mehfooza Jan, Majid Masroor, Rehana Kounsar, Mohammad Yousuf Akash, Munatzir Mahiddin, Dr Satish Vimal, Abdul Ahad Gulshan and Assadullah Assad.

During the Mehfil-e-Musharia, poets and poetesses recited their poetry attended by good gathering.
