Effective fiscal management key to good governance: Finance Min

JAMMU, APRIL 25: Minister for Finance, Education, Labour and Employment Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today said that effective fiscal management holds key to good governance, even as hailing the department for managing the state finances well.

“Our state is deficient in resources, but the way finance department has been all the way handling the fiscal management is highly appreciable,” the Minister said at an informal interaction with departmental functionaries after inaugurating a newly established Conference Hall here at Finance Complex, Muthi. Principal Secretary Finance, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, heads of different wings and other officials were present at the inaugural function.

The Minister asked the officials to continue to work with same spirit and zeal adding that the department has a pivotal role in guiding the government towards efficient and productive use of its limited resources.

“I appreciate your expertise as despite limited resources, you are helping the state well to handle and meet the expenses,” the Minister added.

Responding to the issues raised by the officials, the Minister said that the government is committed to meet the aspirations of the employees. He said implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations bear testimony to it.

The Minister also appreciated executing agency Jammu and Kashmir Industry Limited – a state government undertaking- for exceptionally good work while developing the hi-tech conference hall for the department.

Earlier, Principal Secretary Finance, Naveen Choudhary gave a detailed resume of steps taken for upgrading the infrastructure at the finance complex for the ease of working of the departmental functionaries.
