Anti-encroachment drive to continue until all encroached State land is retrieved: DC

SRINAGAR, APRIL 25: Continuing its anti-encroachment drive against illegal land grabbers in the district, the Srinagar district administration Wednesday undertook a massive anti-encroachment drive during which 1300 kanals of State land were retrieved from illegal encroachment of land-grabbers at Khimber here.

The drive was conducted by the enforcement wing of Revenue Department under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah. It was undertaken in response to public complaints registered with the DC Office.

SDM East, concerned Tehsildar and other officials from the Revenue Department and officers from the Forest Department were part of the enforcement team undertaking the anti-encroachment drive.

Speaking about it, the Deputy Commissioner said anti-encroachment drives will be undertaken in all areas of the district to retrieve all State and kahcharie lands encroached in the district. He said involvement in land encroachment will be dealt with firmly as per the law.

Dr. Shah also urged the general public to bring into the notice of Revenue officers or the DC Office any instances or attempts of encroachment on the State or Common land in the district.

 

Reviews status of development projects under AMRUT

SRINAGAR, APRIL 25: In line with the directions of the Chief Secretary with regard to the removal of bottlenecks facilitating the implementation of various NBBC projects in the district, District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah Wednesday convened a meeting to review the status of various projects executed under AMRUT.

Joint Commissioner (Works) SMC, General Manager NBCC Srinagar, SEs PHE and Drainage and Assistant Commissioner Revenue Srinagar attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the construction of Sluice Chamber at Alamgari Bazar, removal of sixteen shops at Owanti Bhawan Soura, construction of drainage at Jinab Sahib Soura and installation of machinery at STP at Noorbagh.

Regarding the construction of Sluice Chamber at Alamgari Bazar, the DDC assured that funds to the tune of Rs 45 lacs will be released soon as instructed by the Chief Secretary. He directed the Joint Director Planning, Development & Monitoring Department to submit a proposal in this regard for the early redress of the issue.

Discussing the removal of shops at Onta Bhawan and the rehabilitation of displaced shopkeepers, the DDC directed the concerned for submitting all relevant records of the proposed land of rehabilitation at the earliest.

In regard to the construction of drainage at Jinab Sahib Soura, the DDC directed for immediate execution of repositioning and rebuilding of the drain there. The Joint Commissioner (Works) SMC was directed for making the necessary arrangements providing a temporary drain till the completion of the project.

Dr. Shah said he will soon visit the sites of the project in order to have a firsthand assessment of issues surrounding them and their early resolution. He impressed upon all the concerned to ensure that all required efforts are made for achieving the said developmental goals.
