Innovative ideas, smart water technologies to boost agriculture production: Dir Agri

SRINAGAR, APRIL 23: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today chaired a meeting to take stock of agricultural scenario in the Valley.

The meeting focussed on steps to be taken for optimum utilization of available water resources and exploring and adopting smart irrigation water technology.

The Director said that Agriculture has undergone much change over the last few decades. He said that in the present water scenario agriculture must be a very sophisticated and highly technical industry. “It has to be one of the most innovative enterprises in terms of smart water technologies.”

Director Agriculture impressed upon the participants to make sure that water resources available for agriculture activities are utilized in a scientific manner. He said farmers have to be competitive and well aware of present changing water scenario.

He said that the ability of agriculture sector to adopt innovative ideas with respect to smart water use technologies will continue to support and ensure a strong and prosperous agriculture sector with sustainable development.

Joint Director Agriculture Extension Abdul Rahim Samoon, Deputy Director Agriculture Central Ameerudin Andrabi, Water Use specialist, Subject Matter Specialist (RL) and other experts were present on the occasion.
