Landslide triggered by heavy rains damage residential house, 33000 KV power line at Rajarwani Uri

Baramulla: Heavy rains triggered a landslide at Rajarwani Uri that damaged a residential house, a high-tension power supply line in the area while as  three families were evacuated to safer places.

Witnesses said heavy rains triggered a landslide along with shooting rocks at Rajarwani Uri resulting damage to a residential houses of Mohammad Yaqoob and a 33, 000 KV power transmission line in the frontier area Uri. Three families were moved to safer places after the landslide.

The landslide uprooted an electric pole which blocked Srinagar-Muzzfarabad highway for some time but traffic was restored immediately by authorities after the broken pole was put aside by a JCB machine.

Tehsildar Uri Mohmmad Asalam reached on the spot and efforts were immediately made to restore traffic but electricity could not be restored immediately.  Power supply to almost thirty villages got affected.

“Srinagar-Uri highway has been restored for traffic movement and electricity will be restored by tomorrow morning,”  SDM Uri Basheer-ul-Haq Chowdary said.
