ANANTNAG, APRIL 20: In connection with the Ujjwala Divas celebrations, LPG Panchayats were organized by HPCL and BPCL Anantnag, to sensitize the Ujjwala beneficiaries about the safety & utility of LPG and health benefits of using clean fuels at various parts of the district Anantnag.

1500 free LPG connections were also distributed among the eligible women hailing from BPL, SC/ST and other eligible families under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), as part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.

In this regard, the biggest function was held at Dak Bungalow Khannabal Anantnag, where MLA Homeshalibugh Advocate Ab Majeed Larmi and ACR Anantnag distributed the LPG connections among the beneficiaries in presence of the representatives of designated Gas Agencies of Anantnag and officers of CAPD department Anantnag.

On the occasion, MLA Homeshalibugh Advocate Ab Majeed Larmi said that earlier, because of the use of traditional “Chulas” the women had to face a lot of hardships during cooking, which resulted in deteriorating their health conditions. “Now since every household is being provided with an opportunity of free LPG connections, therefore, the women folk will definitely feel a sigh of relief and a sense of empowerment,” he said.

He suggested the women take benefits from all government schemes and improve their living standard.

Similar functions were held at Townhall Bijbehara where Director CAPD and AD Food Anantnag distributed the free LPG connections among the eligible women.

Likewise, functions were held at Pahalgam, Achabal, Dialgam, Aishmuqam,Vailo, Sallar, Kehribal, Khubdru etc. where free LPG connections were distributed among the deserving people.
