Srinagar, April 14:  Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President and MLC G N Monga today appealed the Prime Minister to sack MoS in Prime Minister’s Office  Dr Jitendra Singh for ‘his role in creating hurdles in Crime Branch investigations in Kathua rape and murder case’.

In a press statement issued here, he said, “mere assurances and statement of PM won’t help. It was Jitendra Singh along with Lal Singh, Chander Prakash Ganga and other BJP leaders who tried to create hurdles in Crime Branch investigations. Now everything is clear and it is the time that either Jitendra Singh steps down or PM sacks him.”

The press release further added that Jitendra Singh, who represents Udhampur Parliament seat in the Lok Sabha, had, in February, said, “If people feel that they don’t have faith in the police or the Crime Branch investigation and the case needs to be handed over to the CBI, I don’t think there is any problem in handing over the case to the CBI. If the state government does so and recommends it to the Centre, we will definitely act on it.”

Monga said instead of visiting the victim’s family and ensuring justice, the MoS, in whose parliamentary constituency Kathua falls, tried to ‘hamper the investigations’ in the case which, he added, was utterly ‘shameful’.

He also demanded cancellation of the licenses of lawyers of Kathua, who tried to prevent Crime Branch personnel from filing charge sheet against the rape and murder accused in the court.
