Srinagar, April, 12: Continuing its drive “War against drugs”, Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested four notorious drug peddlers in Kupwara and recovered 14 Kilograms of charas from their possession, a police spokesman said.

Three notorious drug peddlers were arrested from Dragmulla area of the district who were identified as Abdul Majid Khan son of Mohammad Yousuf, Muhktiyar Ahmad Khan son of Gazi Mohammad Khan and Jan Mohammad Lachi son of Mohammad Akbar Lachi, all residents of Dilbagh Lolab. 13 kilograms of charas, concealed in a Santro vehicle bearing registration No. DL3CAL 6492 was recovered, said the spokesman.

In another instance, a police party of Police Post Bazar arrested a drug peddler from Kupwara town and recovered 01 kg of charas from his possession, which was concealed in a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK01-9317. The arrested person has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sofi resident of Sohipora Kupwara A/P Bramri Kupwara.

Case FIR numbers 65/2018 and 67/2018 under section 8/20 NDPS act have been registered respectively in both the cases in P/S Kupwara and investigations are going on.

The spokesman said that it is worth to mention that so far Kupwara Police has recovered 21 Kgs Charas and 500 gms Heroine and arrested 09 drug peddlers including a notorious lady drug peddler in the current year 2018.

SSP has appealed the local residents to come forward and help the police to eradicate this menace from the society. He also said that this anti-drug drive shall continue to make the society drug free.
