300 stranded passengers on Mughal Road rescued

POONCH, APRIL 12: In a marathon effort, around 300 passengers which were stranded on Mughal Road were rescued by the efforts of concerned authorities.

The vehicles got stranded approximately 4 km away from Pir ki Gali on the Mughal Road due to heavy snowfall and avalanche. On receiving the calls from passengers, DC Poonch rushed the Mughal Road authorities’ along with machinery to clear the debris dumped on the road due to avalanche.

For safe rescue of the passengers, a joint party of Police, Mughal Road authority and army was rushed to the spot. The rescue team trekked 8 km before getting access to the stranded passengers. The operation was supervised by SSP Poonch, Rajiv Pandey.

DC Poonch has directed the Mughal Road authorities to expedite the avalanche clearance works and clear the road at the earliest.
