Vehicle with illicit timber seized in Baramulla

Baramulla: Forest department’s Forest Protection Force (FPF) Baramulla seized a Santro  car with illicit timber at Bawli Kanlibagh in north Kashmir’s Baramulla town on Sunday late night.

Official sources said acting on specific input FPF Baramulla set up check point nakas at various spots in Baramulla town near Bawli and Kanil Bagh area.

“A Santro car bearing registration No DL6CA: 9709 was spotted moving suspiciously in this area at around 2:00 am which was directed to stop. Two smugglers escaped under the cover of darkness leaving the vehicle behind,” said Manmeet Singh, a forest official.

“The vehicle was found loaded with illicit timber Kail (fresh logs) 2 Nos: 7 cfts. Registration documents were missing from the car,” said Manmeet Singh.

Joint Director Forest Protection Force Kashmir Irfan Ali Shah told Kashmir Images, “This is the fourth vehicle seized by Forest department in a row in the last fifteen days in North Kashmir. We have intensified our night surveillance in North Kashmir and kept our forces on alert. We are preparing PSA dossiers against involved culprits.”
