Sheeri, Apr 09: Battling for life in coma for the past five weeks, 21-years-old casual Forest department employee, who was critically injured while on duty, succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Srinagar on Sunday.

The slain causal labourer Lateef Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Subhan Lone, of Sheeri  Mirher in Narwav area of district Baramulla was posted with Jehlum Valley Division, Baramulla.

While on duty on February 21, had received critical injuries in the head and right leg when he slipped and rolled down to crash with some rocks in forest compartment 71 of Jehlum Valley Division.

Latief went into coma even as doctors performed multiple surgeries on him at SKIMS Soura, where he remained interned for the last five weeks.

Latief was laid to rest at Sheeri Mirher and large number of people participated in his funeral prayers.

He is survived by aged parents and two brothers.

“The casual labourer belongs to a very poor family. So it is requested to all our employees especially NGFOA to come forward for his help,” said a relative Abdul Aziz Bhat.
