Peace prerequisite for making development meaningful: Naeem Akhtar

RAJOURI, APRIL 06: Minister for Public Works Department, Mr Naeem Akhtar today said that peace is prerequisite not only to further the developmental activities in the state but to render meaning and value to development as violence of any form is bound to turn development unfathomable and meaningless.

The Minister said this while speaking in a series of public grievances camps in the border areas of Saaj, Chadoong, Thannamandi, Gambhir Brahmana and Manjakote of district Rajouri.

Public in large number attended the camps and expressed gratitude to the Minister for holding such meetings.

Issues pertaining to upgradation of roads, provision of drinking water, augmentation of electric infrastructure etc were raised in the meetings.

At Saaj demand for blacktopping of link road to upper Saaj and installation of hand pumps to meet water scarcity were raised whereas in Shadoong and Thannamandi public demanded construction of Shadoong-Peer Mohalla, Pura Thana-Jabba and Mangota-Katimar roads, upgradation of Rajouri-Bafliazroad, Zero/take off point for Manyal Manda Morh-Dara road, construction of Thana Mandi Bus Stand besides upgradation of Schools and establishing of ITI centre.

At Ghambir Brahmana, construction and upgradation of Number of road projects were demanded including Pathan Mora-MS Karayaan, Pathan Mohalla-Ghambir Brahmana, Thandi Kassi-Chappardhara, Peer Kanju-Charadu, Chawa-IrwanGali and Peer Kanju-Taiyalu roads besides link roads to BhalwanMohra, Kodapani and Katarmal. Meanwhile public at Manjakote stressed for earlier construction and completion of important road projects such as Kalali-KoteGali, Derigala-Upper Sarola, Kotli-Morian-GhambirMughlan, Jamola-Nadyal, Gurdan-Hayatpora and Kalali-Bhattian, interlinking of Hayatpora road to Saaj-Basan road apart from creation of sports infrastructure such as play fields and indoor stadium to promote sports culture in the region.

Speaking on the occasion the Minister said the government is endeavouring to spend Rs 11000 Cr under PMGSY for completion, in all respects, of 10000 KM of roads in the state. He said that all roads in block Plangar shall be blacktopped at cost of Rs 20 Cr, 67 KM road length in Thana Mandi at Rs 36 Cr, and 65 KM in Manjakote and Panjgarayein blocks at Rs 42 Cr. He also earmarked Rs 2.5 Cr for completion of DaisarGali-Taar road and also directed the concerned to prepare DPR for Shadong-Peer Mohalla road.

The Minister expressed the hope that with team of dedicated and honest officers in the district, all road projects shall be completed in stipulated time while ensuring quality of work.

MLA Rajouri Advocate Qammar Hussain who accompanied the Minister while speaking on the occasion said the government is dedicated to improve road infrastructure in the rural areas with declared objective of reversing the trend of urbanization.

The minister also inaugurated guest house at Thana Mandi which has been completed at a cost of Rs 80 lakh. Foundation stones were laid for Rs 22 Cr projects for upgradation of roads including Shahdara-Upper Shahdara, Soda-Shahdara, Soda-BehroteGali, Khablan-MS Sangaili and Plangar-Badanoo-Lah via Dhara roads.
