Awareness programme on NABARD credit facilities held at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, APRIL-05-: As an initiative under Star College Scheme of Department of Biotechnology, GOI, an awareness programme on NABARD’s Credit Facilities and procedures was organized by Department of Sericulture, Government Degree College, Udhampur, here today. 70 students attended the programme.

While giving a detailed account of various schemes for rural population under priority and non-priority sectors, Assistant General Manager NABARD, Manohar Lal, informed about NABARD’s role in preparing Potential Linked Credit Plans (PLP’s) each year after assessing physical potential with the involvement of banks, the line departments, farmers, NGOs, for outreach of latest technologies and credits to concerned stakeholders.

Besides, he also explained the NABARD’s role in refinancing the commercial banks for beneficiaries at lower rate of interest, Integrated Farming System, Capacity Building and Skill Enhancement Programmes, Publicity of schemes and exposure visits for progressive farmers.

On the occasion, Principal, Dr. S. K Magotra, asked the students to take benefits of the schemes and become job providers and not the job seekers as fifty six percent of population of our country is of youth

Among others, HOD Mathematics Dr. Udhey Bhanu, Dr Mokshe and Archana of sericulture Department, staff members were present during the programme.
