342 km road macadamized in Gandhi Nagar constituency during past 3 years: Speaker

JAMMU, APRIL 05: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today said that Gandhi Nagar Constituency has witnessed massive development in all spheres during last 3 years and the present government is making concerted efforts to ensure availability of basic amenities to people.

The Speaker said this while addressing a gathering at Bandhu Rakh during his visit to the area.

During the public meet, the locals apprised him about problem being faced by them due to low voltage power from the existing transformers of the area. They demanded for a 400 KVA Transformers for the area in place of existing transfer, besides requesting for immediate works for up-gradation of inner roads that are in a dilapidated condition.

Taking note of the issues presented, the Speaker assured that necessary directions will be passed to Executive Engineer PDD to look into the power supply needs of the area and take appropriate action in this regard. He further assured that necessary action will also be initiated at the earliest to start up-gradation works on inner lanes, drains, roads besides taking up other development works in the area.

Speaker said that the government has started road macamadization project in the entire state under which 342 km quality road has been blacktopped in Gandhi Nagar constituency in last 3 years.

Giving special focus to the neglected areas, the government has launched Rs 4.5 crore development works in Chatta village and now the area has witnessed of a lot of development works including construction of 7 km approach road to the village, he said.

The Speaker reiterated the commitment of the government to improve health care system in the state and said that the requisite steps have been taken to upgrade the health infra in Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar and Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Gangyal.

“Several more initiatives are being taken for the development of Gandhi Nagar constituency including augmentation of power scenario, providing adequate drinking water supply, construction of lanes, drains, nullahs, culverts, bridges, creation of parks etc”, Speaker said adding the locals need to come forward and take full benefits from several ongoing welfare schemes launched by the state and centre governments.

On the occasion, the locals also expressed gratitude to the Speaker for taking due attention toward their demands and problems.

Among others, senior political leaders and large number of prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
