Zulfkar for intensifying market checking

JAMMU, APRIL 4: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Ch. Zulfkar Ali has directed the officers of FCS&CA to intensify market checking so that the people are not being cheated in the market.

The Minister gave these directions during a meeting convened to review working of Legal Metrology Department of Jammu division, here today.

The Meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary FCS&CA, Controller Legal Metrology Department, Financial Advisor FCS&CA, Joint Controller LMD Jammu, all deputy controllers of Jammu province and other officers.

During the meeting, the Minister was informed about the initiatives taken for re-organization of the metrological department. It was further informed that 28180 traders have been covered under stamping during the year 2017-18.

Threadbare decision was held on various others issues pertaining to the department.

Addressing the officers, Zulfkar Ali said that role of Legal Metrology department is very significant in day-to- day life and everyone starts and ends his or her day under the influence of Legal Metrology. He said that government is committed to create such an environment where every consumer or citizen should get his due rights.

He further instructed the department to enforce consumer protection laws strictly and create awareness programme among the public.

Zulfkar said that creating new requisite infrastructure is the need of the hour for the proper and effective functioning of the department and present government is focused to provide better infrastructure facilities to people to ensure protection of consumer rights.

He said that working laboratory shall be equipped with latest mode of technology to check the purity of goods and shall provide facilities to traders of this district to get their instrument calibrated at their door step.
